Academic programmes
The School of Engineering and Digital Arts offers three undergraduate programmes in the area of engineering. All undergraduate courses offer the year in industry option to students, which help students gain valuable industrial experience. A Foundation Year is designed for students who do not have the qualifications for direct entry into the BEng courses or an equivalent programme.
Computer Systems Engineering: This programme allows students to develop the skills and expertise needed to design computer systems. It includes up-to-date detailed knowledge of computer hardware and software and background knowledge of electronics, communications systems and control theory. Students need to complete three stages of academic courses to be awarded the degree. The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Electronic and Communications Engineering: This programme provides students with a broad grounding in the fields of computer technology, telecommunications and consumer electronics. Students need to complete three stages of academic courses to be awarded the degree. The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering: This programme is designed as a top-up to suitably qualified candidates who have completed stage 1 and 2 of Electronic and Communications Engineering.
