I decided to study at the Robert Gordon University to ensure that I started work with a broad knowledge of the industry to help me communicate with other oil and gas professionals from various disciplines. Time spent in Aberdeen also offered great networking opportunities at SPE student chapter and Energy Institute meetings.

I was awarded the Talisman Scholarship of £10,000 from Talisman Energy (UK) in 2007. The Award is given to remove some or all of the financial burden of full-time study from candidates seen as having outstanding potential for the energy sector.

ratingJob prospects

On course completion, I immediately secured a job on the Talisman Graduate Development Programme as a Petroleum Engineer. I was awarded the Talisman Scholarship and then applied to their Graduate Programme through normal channels. I've heard nothing but good things about the company and I was delighted to be offered the job. Through the Graduate Development Programme I look forward to gaining varied and invaluable industry experience.
